Barcelona are monitoring the situation with Pierre-Emerick Aubamyang at Arsenal

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ‘on Barcelona’s radar’ if the Gunners fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Aubameyang was recently made club captain by Unai Emery following Granit Xhaka’s demotion from the role and the striker is regarded by many as the club’s most important player.
But El Chiringuito report that the Gabon star’s situation is being monitored by Barcelona.
He is seen as a possible replacement for Luis Suarez, who is approaching the twilight of his career aged 32.
It is even reported that the Catalan club may make a January approach due to Antoine Griezmann’s struggle to adapt at the Nou Camp, though this seems a more unlikely strategy.
Aubameyang has scored nine goals in 12 games for Arsenal this season and remains their most dangerous attacking threat.
The club are chasing a top four place this term and are currently in fifth, five points behind Chelsea.
Arsenal’s former transfer chief Sven Mislintat is not convinced the forward would fit in at Barcelona as he is self-less.
‘A striker like Neymar or (Sergio) Aguero, for example, would never give a penalty to (Nicolas) Pepe to score his first goal. It’s vice versa — ‘Come on, I will take this penalty kick, nobody else!’ he previously explained.
‘Auba gave the chance to Pepe. His instinct was, ‘Let’s score and let’s go forward together.’ He takes care about his team-mates.
‘Since he joined Arsenal, he played where he was asked and needed, and so he helped especially (Alexandre) Lacazette to adapt to the Premier League.
‘Maybe this attitude costs him to play for clubs like Real Madrid or Barcelona but maybe they made a mistake not to go for him.’
