Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.19%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.13%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Legrand SA (PA:LEGD), which rose 4.50% or 3.30 points to trade at 76.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) added 3.80% or 6.10 points to end at 166.75 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was up 3.31% or 0.42 points to 13.27 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP), which fell 3.37% or 3.95 points to trade at 113.40 at the close. Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) declined 2.78% or 3.80 points to end at 132.80 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was down 2.09% or 0.42 points to 19.70.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Rexel (PA:RXL) which rose 9.84% to 12.72, Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) which was up 4.50% to settle at 76.60 and GTT (PA:GTT) which gained 4.37% to close at 100.30.

The worst performers were Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which was down 6.36% to 65.50 in late trade, Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) which lost 3.37% to settle at 113.40 and SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which was down 3.12% to 121.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 319 to 236 and 102 ended unchanged.

Shares in Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) rose to all time highs; rising 4.50% or 3.30 to 76.60. Shares in Rexel (PA:RXL) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.84% or 1.14 to 12.72. Shares in Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.50% or 3.30 to 76.60.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.70% to 13.55.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.52% or 8.15 to $1579.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.76% or 0.39 to hit $51.56 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.52 to trade at $56.31 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.0844, while EUR/GBP fell 0.99% to 0.8304.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 98.953.
