But Barcelona were unhappy with the offer, now Juventus see Rakitic as the missing ingredient to win the Champions League.
The Catalan giants are willing to let go of Rakitic in January but do want to rush into any decision.
Inter are also in the race to sign Rakitic and Conte has put out a warning to Nerazzurri chiefs they need to act quickly.
‘We should plan this year much better. I’m tired of always saying the same. I hope a leader comes here and says something too, ‘ said the Inter boss.
AC Milan chief football officer Zvonimir Boban is also working intently to bring his compatriot to the San Siro.
Boban will look to capitalise on his good relationship with Rakitic as he aims to convince the 31-year-old that AC is the best option for him.
Rakitic, who joined Barcelona from Sevilla back in 2014, has been used sparingly for the Spanish giants so far this season.
During his time at the Nou Camp, Rakitic has won three La Liga titles, one Champions League and four Copa del Rey crowns.
